President Jody Warren brought the meeting to order. There were about 28 members in attendance. Jody told us about the first annual workshop June 5-8 in Harmony, Minnesota and the Avenue of the Saints Show March 5 and 6 in Mt. Pleasant.
March 19th, at the Denver School, Denny Neubauer will show us how to carve a small figure on the top of a knife handle. The cost for the class is $50.00. When finished you will own one of Denny's great knives with a unique touch of your own. Denny will take up to 12 people. There were 7 signed up already at the time of the meeting so let Richard or Mary Lou know if you are interested in attending.
We will elect two new board members at the March meeting. Cato Hoaglan and Randy Ruiter are going off the board. Jody said this is not a difficult job and participation is very important to keep our club going. If you have any interest- PLEASE VOLUNTEER. Call Mary Lou or Richard if you could help out.
Jerry Schierholz reported on the Saturday carving session. Ten carvers participated and Jerry instructed them on the carving of a morning glory. Nine of the ten used hand tools but were still able to come up with a great flower.
Jody suggested that everyone bring a carving to work on to the March meeting. Possibly one you can donate for the raffle in April.
It was reported that both Leroy Milligan and Gerald Ekern have been struggling with health concerns.
Jean Walters suggested that the club buy some tapes for their library on woodburning as several members are interested in learning more about the process.
Jody and Jerry reported on the Cedar Rapids woodcarving show. Several of our members participated and many ribbons were won. To see pictures you can go to chippingaway.com and then to Cedar Valley Woodcarving.
Marvin Walters won the drawing and took home a nice piece of walnut. Milo brought some pieces of walnut to be given to the members.

Following the meeting Jerry Schierholz showed us examples of flower carving and presented ideas of habitat for displaying them.
